What  is  B.A.T.  (Biodynamic Argentine Tango)?

Biodynamic Argentine Tango is training in learning how to dance Argentine Tango mastering the source and the flows of energy generated by the dance (as opposed to learning steps).

From the ground up!

Origin of the word:

The word “Biodynamic” is borrowed from the wine world.

Let’s proceed by analogy.

Do you like wine?

Have you ever heard about “Biodynamic viticulture”?

In a nutshell, Biodynamic viticulture is the technique of making wine in an organic fashion applying Biodynamic principles.

In its simplest form, it means working on the vine from a ground up perspective and integrating it in it’s environment. A soil full of vitality in a limit climate allows the plant to grow strong and produce fruit of optimum quality by itself… as opposed to systemic treatment where (using an arsenal of chemicals) you intervene not on the ground but on the plant (chemical feed, irrigation etc.)

There is a correlation between biodynamics of the vine and the tango.

If you are looking to learn how to dance a quality Argentine Tango, this is the way.

Mastering the energy of the dance and not learning sequences of steps allows you to be free and to improvise. (There is no push-buttons, no paint by numbers, no phrase-book expressions etc...this would amount to be the equivalent of the systemic, chemical, and artificial treatment of the dance).

Simply said, energy is the source of it all but, energy which is not grounded is tension induced and  a tension
generator.

To Dance Argentine Tango should be a refreshing, regenerating and exhilarating experience, not an exhausting one.

Still confused? Ask for a lesson and you will feel all this.

How is this achieved?

One, is by working privately with a teacher that will make you feel-locate-develop-grow the energy (the Qi) of tango and will make you draw your steps, your dynamics, your lead and follow as well as your connection from it.

Second, is by working solo, on yourself, outside the dance floor using special sequences of movements adapted from the classical centered Taoist art of Qigong.

This technique allows you to grow in the dance even in the absence of a regular dance partner.

Is this  for everybody?

Yes, beginners as well as people already instructed in the dance.

It may prove especially useful for students who may have grown a bit of frustration in prior tango classes…
